Tweaking Animation Timing

With my character holding a sword and a shield there seems to be a delay in when I can "Aim" the shield. It seems to be waiting for the attack animation to complete but, even so, there seems to be delay to slightly return the character's arm to idle before being able to aim the shield. Is there a way to tweak the values either within the third person controller or animator to alter shield Aim timing or allow it to interrupt an attack animation? I ideally I would like to allow the shield to be aimed towards the near the end of the attack animation. I am using the animations and controller from the demo scene. Thanks.
 
All of the aim movement is done by the animator in the third person view so you can definitely tweak the timings based on the different transitions. I recommend viewing the animator controller at runtime, looking to see what state it transitions to, and adjust from there.
