Cinemachine for camera

I've installed the cinemachine integration and am trying to use a freelook for my camera, but the camera doesn't seem to bind properly for whatever reason

I have the spring extension on the vcam, the default binding mode is 'simple follw with world up' but the system complains about that - is there a specific binding mode that the system is expecting?

World Space doesn't spit warnings, but the camera still doesn't bind the player properly - do I need to set the look at / follow on the vcam manually? I assumed this would be taken care of by the camera script

Question: to recreate things like the right-click zoom that the default camera provides - would I create multiple cinemachine cameras and then use states or something to switch between them? Still getting my head wrapped around the state system
